Drive
As a plug-in hybrid, the Audi A3 Sportback TFSI e combines the advantages of both a combustion engine and an electric motor.
The result of being picky
The Audi A3 Sportback TFSI e combines the best of both worlds: in all-electric mode it produces very little noise and zero local emissions. Despite the low noise level, the electric motor offers plenty of power. Thanks to recuperation during the journey, the system can recover electrical energy.
The fully digital instrument cluster – the Audi virtual cockpit¹² – features an integrated power meter. This shows the system’s total output and the driving mode, as well as the battery charge and the resulting remaining range.
Flexible fun at the wheel
In combination with a lithium-ion battery, the electric motor provides sporty support for the 1.4-litre TFSI engine. The engine and the electric motor can deliver a combined output of up to 150 kW (Fuel consumption combined¹: 1.4–1.1 l/100 km; Power consumption combined¹: 15.7–14.4 kWh/100 km; CO₂ emissions combined¹: 31–24 g/km) in the 40 TFSI e³ and up to 180 kW (Fuel consumption combined¹: 1.4–1.2 l/100 km; Power consumption combined¹: 15.8–14.7 kWh/100 km; CO₂ emissions combined¹: 31–26 g/km) in the 45 TFSI e².
Your benefits
Electric motors have the great advantage of being able to deliver impressive torque right from the word go. In addition, the combustion engine allows for sporty manoeuvres on long journeys without having to stop and recharge.
Choice of drive type – four driving modes
You can choose which drive type to use: all-electric driving (EV), primary use of the combustion engine to conserve battery charge for electric driving later on (Hold) or to increase it (Charge)⁴, or the efficient interplay of the two (Hybrid).
Digital and intuitive – the display
